Directory Listings

NAP. No, I’m not talking about taking an afternoon snooze. I’m talking about one of the most important parts of your online presence in relation to your directory listings!

  1. When it comes to directory listings, you need to know 2 things:
Google is king, so make sure to manually claim your listing!
  2. NAP – Name, Address, and Phone Number. Three variables that need to be consistent across all of your online presence to improve your local SEO ranking.

If you are a local business or have an address that consumers visit, submitting your information to the top directory listing sites is very important. There are hundreds of directory listing sites, and there are many softwares that automatically submit your information to the top directories in your industries with a click of the button. This service is not cheap! But, it’s well worth it to make sure your NAP is consistent across all of the directories.

Be sure to ask your agency what directory listings they are automatically submitting to, and if they are including claiming any listings manually. Some directories do not play well with the automated submissions, so will need to be claimed by hand. Also, make sure they include claiming (if you haven’t already) and optimizing your Google listing manually for you. Google has many more features that you can take advantage of that are not readily available to update in the directory listing softwares available.

Ensuring your online presence is consistent using both manual claiming techniques and an automated submission, will ensure that your customers can find you, call you, and drive to you when they look for you!
